I was commissioned by the Northwest and Northeast Regional Development Agencies to conceptualise, plan and market their regional design reviews. I was also pivotal in setting up the Northwest centre for design excellence, Places Matter!
I am a member of the Integreat Yorkshire and North Staffs design review panels.
I work with local authority officers and scheme architects in assessing development proposals; helping to ensure designs are high quality, locally apppropriate and welcomed by the local planning authority. Together we look at all aspects of design that are included in the design and access statement, including layout, plan form, appearance, movement, access, landscape and community safety. I offer one-off support on major schemes or a regular service at a discounted rate.
Jerry is retained by Eden Council in Cumbria to advise on the urban design and architectural form of the Penrith New Squares development led by Sainsburys.
Slides 1 to 5 show the highly permeable street pattern at a town centre residential scheme and the improvements to the corner block design negotiated with the architect at Burslem, North Staffordshire.
Slides 6 to 10 show the evolution of a building typology at Nottingham's award winning waterside, illustrating how negotiated alterations secured a built form which better overlooks and encloses the waterside space and adds a new dynamic to the conserved historic warehouses.
